DHI has entered a framework agreement with URS Greiner, Woodward Clyde, Dames & Moore providing expert assistance in connection with the ongoing study of the San Francisco Airport reconfiguration.
The proposed development will comprise expansion and reconfiguration of the runways at the San Francisco Airport in the San Francisco Bay area in order to accommodate the increased amount of air traffic.
Of particular concern is the possible negative impact on Bay area water environment from the proposed reconfiguration. In this context DHI has been asked to assist in the quantification of the transport and fate of heavy metal, PAH, PCB and dioxins in the San Francisco Bay area.
The framework agreement between DHI and URS Greiner comprises expert input in relation to
- modelling of waves, currents and sediment transport in the San Francisco Bay
- modelling of the spreading and fate of contaminated sediment and toxic compounds
The modelling will be based on the MIKE modeling software (MIKE 21 and MIKE 3) and will be carried out by DHI in Denmark in cooperation with our US subsidiary DHI Inc
