DHI Water & Environment (DHI) are presently undertaking extensive hydraulic modeling studies to support the design and construction of a new multi-purpose port on the Atlantic coast of Tierra del Fuego, Argentina.
The new port, Caleta la Misíon Port, which will be located 2km off the coast, will be exposed to extremely adverse met-ocean conditions and it therefore poses a particular challenge to the designers and contractor.
DHI has been commissioned by Danport - COWI to undertake physical model studies to optimise the port with regard to wave agitation and down time for ships at berth. Further, comprehensive breakwater design tests will be undertaken. The port is being built under a design-and-build contract by Ormas - Andrade Gutierrez U.T.E. with Danport - COWI as the design engineers.
