Introduction to Real-Time Forecasting The application areas of FLOOD WATCH cover real-time flood forecasting and warning; decision support and scenario analyses; real-time optimisation of dams and reservoirs dissemination and flood mapping; water quality forecasting. Designed for use in real-time environments, FLOOD WATCH integrates spatial data, real-time data, forecast models and dissemination tools in a GIS or web based environment. The system includes a GIS client designed for use by staff working in office and a web client designed for use by duty staff working remotely. The 2-day course supplies professionals with an overview of the aspects to be addressed when working with real-time data and forecast models in an operational environment. Professionals that may benefit from this course includes flood managers, flood forecasting staff, dam and reservoir operators and decision makers. It is an advantage, but no condition, that participants are acquainted with the functionalities and operations of MIKE 11 HD prior to the course either through practice or through completion of the training course Introduction to River and Channel Modelling with MIKE 11.
